VoIP in iPad

Apple has announced that it has sold its one millionth iPad since the new tablet computer was launched at the start of April 2010. Apple added that iPad users had downloaded over 12 million applications and over 1.5 million ebooks in that time.

This could open up access to IP telephony solutions to a new generation of consumers, with VoIP solutions being among the applications that the iPad can potentially be used with. The iPad comes come in two versions, one with Wi-Fi and one with both Wi-Fi and 3G. The inclusion of Wi-Fi and 3G gives the iPad the potential to use VoIP, such as applications which allow it to perform similar functions to VoIP phones. It is likely that the iPad will always rely on IP telephony solutions over traditional mobile network operators to deliver voice services.
